Kudos: US Airways Express/Allegheny Airlines Earns FAA 'Diamond'

Award for Excellence in Maintenance Training

US Airways Express carrier Allegheny Airlines has received the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) distinguished Diamond Certificate of Excellence Award for 2002, for its proactive role in aircraft maintenance training of its technical maintenance workforce. This is Allegheny's fourth consecutive year receiving the award, repeating its achievements for 1999, 2000 and 2001.

"These awards underscore the commitment that this company and its employees have made to the maintenance integrity of our airline. I personally want to thank them for their attention to detail and procedure in maintaining our aircraft," said Allegheny's General Maintenance Manager, Wallace Turner.

The Diamond Certificate is the highest of five award levels given by the FAA, and is based on the percentage of individual technicians that received aircraft maintenance training developed by Allegheny Airlines.

Allegheny Airlines, Inc., is a wholly owned subsidiary of US Airways Group, Inc., and operates a fleet of 46 Dash 8 100-series turboprop aircraft. Allegheny Airlines has maintenance bases in Harrisburg, Pa., and Binghamton, N.Y. Allegheny also has line maintenance stations in New York (LaGuardia), Philadelphia, and Syracuse, N.Y.
