FreeFlight Systems RA-4000 Radar Altimeter And FTG-410 Tone Generator Approved In Type Certificate Amendment For Factory Or Field Installation

Robinson Helicopter has received FAA certification for installation of FreeFlight Systems RA-4000 radar altimeter and FTG-410 Tone Generator audio alert safety system in Robinson R22, R44 and R66 models. FreeFlight Systems says the RA-4000 is part of the lightest-weight, lowest-cost radar altimeter solution available.

With precision from 2,500 feet to ground level, it is designed for helicopters and other aircraft that operate over water or rough terrain, at nighttime, in close ground proximity and in other environments lacking visual cues to the ground, landscape or flight path. The system also is available with the RAD-40 panel-mounted display for altitude pre-select and altimeter readout. The FTG-410 gives pilots valuable audio alerts at pre-selected altitudes and for other aircraft conditions. The two-channel system is compatible with the RA-4000 and other altimeters and avionics for maximum value and flexibility in installation.

It weighs less than 2.3 lbs with the two included antennas. The FTG-410 weighs just 2.9 ounces and the RAD-40 weighs 6 ounces. An optional night vision goggle (NVG) compatible display is available.

The RA-4000 is certified to TSO-C87 and ETSO-2C87 and meets or exceeds DO-160F and DO-178B Level C standards. Pricing for the RA-4000 system is available from Robinson Helicopter.
