QinetiQ North America Appoints Former DARPA Program Manager To Head R&D

Technology Solutions Group Will Be Run By Dr. Gregory Duckworth

Global defense technology developer QinetiQ North America, announced Thursday its Technology Solutions Group (TSG) has appointed Dr. Gregory Duckworth as its first Director of Advanced Research and Development. Duckworth will be responsible for identifying critical user needs and developing the technologies, industry partnerships, and business opportunities to address them.

Dr. Duckworth joined TSG's Foster-Miller, Inc. subsidiary in February 2007 after four years as Program Manager at DARPA in the Special Projects and Strategic Technologies Offices. At DARPA, Dr. Duckworth was responsible for programs addressing hidden and hardened underground facilities, developing specialized geolocation, navigation, and communications systems, and technologies for use in difficult RF and GPS-denied environments.

"Dr. Duckworth's experience at DARPA with a wide range of technologies, users, and technology providers make him the ideal candidate for this demanding new position," said Dr. William Ribich, President of the Technology Solutions Group. "He will work closely with all QinetiQ North America technical groups to develop the superior technical solutions our customers have come to expect from QinetiQ North America."

Duckworth received his Sc.D. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution Joint Program in Electrical Engineering and Oceanographic Engineering; E.E. and S.M. degrees from the department of Electrical Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and his BSEE from Rice University.

QinetiQ (pronounced "kinetic") North America Operations LLC provides technology and responsive solutions to US government customers. With more than 6,000 employees, QinetiQ North America is part of QinetiQ Group plc, one of the world's leading defense and security technology companies.
