Northwest Aviation Conference Kicks Off This Weekend

AOPA President Boyer To Give Keynote Address

AOPA President Phil Boyer will deliver a keynote address at this year's Northwest Aviation Conference and Trade Show — the first big event of the flying season for pilots in the Pacific Northwest.

Now in its twenty-second year, the event provides a venue for aviation businesses and customers to network and showcase technological advances in the industry. This year's theme is "aviation education — share the dream," and the show promises to be bigger and better than ever. The number of exhibitors alone has increased 40 percent over last year.

Boyer will speak about key issues affecting pilots nationwide including security, reducing flying costs, and AOPA's goals for 2005. Special emphasis will be on Northwest concerns such as temporary flight restrictions (TFRs) and airport preservation. Boyer will be speaking at 1 p.m. on Saturday in the second floor pavilion hall at the Western Washington Fairgrounds in Puyallup.

This year's expanded conference schedule includes safety seminars covering many facets of the industry from helicopter to seaplane operations, plus topics on mountain and instrument flying.

The AOPA Air Safety Foundation will present two safety seminars: "Single Pilot IFR" and "Ups and Downs of Takeoffs and Landings."

Hosted by the Washington Aviation Association, the conference takes place February 26 and 27. For complete information, visit the Web site.
