Sheltair and Avfuel Partner on Aviation Scholarship Program

Fund Grants Pilot, Technical, and CE Funding

Sheltair Aviation, in conjunction with Avfuel Corporation, have announced an expansion of the scope of their partnership to include an educational program aimed at replenishing the industry’s stock of pilots, technicians, and professionals. The Future Takes Flight Scholarship fund will provide $30,000 annually.

Each year, it will distribute 6 $5,000 awards across 3 categories. Two for learning to fly and advanced pilot ratings, two for aviation technicians, and two for continuing education.

Funds in the learning to fly or advanced pilot ratings categories can be used for; course work, flight lessons, type ratings (both initial and additional), ATP and CAM certification, or upset flight recovery training.

Recipients in the aviation technician category can use theirs to start or continue coursework or obtain a mechanic’s inspector authorization certification.

The continuing education category will be used as a catch-all for aviation-adjacent specialties. Avfuel says funding “can be used to further skills needed when working at an FBO, charter company, maintenance facility, or flight school.

The Future Takes Flight scholarship program stems from a desire to re-invest in the aviation community we love and are so deeply passionate about,” said Sheltair president Lisa Holland. “The Sheltair and Avfuel teams felt the best way to do so was by providing meaningful financial support to aviators pursuing a greater commitment to business aviation. We’re giving back to the industry that has given us everything.”

Interested applicants can apply from December to June each year. Avfuel and Sheltair executives will evaluate and select appropriate recipients based on essay submissions, with special consideration for those facing financial hardship.
