Expects To Be Able To Take Orders By Spring 2010
Remos Aircraft introduced its GX-F
amphibious float concept at AirVenture in July and began flight
testing in September. The company expects to complete the float
installation approval and begin taking orders in the Spring of
2010.
Remos is developing both amphibious and straight float
configurations. In both cases the floats are made of composite
laminate materials, featuring Kevlar keels along with aluminum and
stainless fittings. Remos will increase the gross weight of the
aircraft to 1450 lbs, providing an approximate 500 lb useful load,
and will comply with ASTM standards for Light Sport Aircraft
certification.
"The Remos GX Floatplane will set a new standard in recreational
flying," said Kenneth Weaver, VP of Marketing for Remos. "Based on
the reaction to the floats at AirVenture and the inquiries since
then, there will be a lot more people enjoying float flying in the
next year. The goal has been to produce a floatplane that is highly
maneuverable, rugged, easy to maintain and which opens up thousands
of remote landing areas that would otherwise be inaccessible.
Rivers, ponds and lakes take on a new meaning when you have a
Remos."
Remos has determined that the amphibious and straight float will
easily retrofit existing GX aircraft. Remos' flagship product, the
Remos GX aircraft, is an all-composite, single engine, recreational
aircraft certified by the FAA and the DAeC. Manufactured in
Pasewalk, Germany, Remos aircraft are distributed and supported
world-wide through a network of specialty sales, maintenance and
flight training programs.
