Airborne-Unmanned 06.24.20: Bogus Drone Arrest, Deuce Drone, Kitty Hawk Flyer

Also: Another Starlink Mission, Honeywell Pursues UAM/UAS Mkt, Drone Delivery Canada, Altitude Angel-Inmarsat

In late 2018, during the height of paranoia over unproven drone sightings near Gatwick Airport, which shut things down for days, Sussex's finest carried out an assault with at least a dozen officers on the home of Paul and Elaine Gait -- holding them for 36 hours.

Eventually; the two were released -- without charge --  whereupon the pair sued Sussex PD for wrongful arrest and false imprisonment. Now, there has been a resolution to the matter and Sussex PD will have to dig deep into their piggybank -- to the tune of some 200,000 pounds for the settlement and legal fees. Deuce Drone has signed a Demonstration Agreement with Potters Wings Mobile, LLC, a Buffalo Wild Wings Franchisee, to conduct a demonstration of the company’s drone delivery system. The demonstration will be conducted at the franchisee’s Mobile, Alabama Buffalo Wild Wings sports bar and is expected to occur at the end of August 2020. Based on much of the technology coming forth from the Unmanned Aviation industry, Kitty Hawk’s ‘Flyer’ looked like it was going to be a popular manned multicopter for the masses. But now... not so much. The Kitty Hawk Flyer program was shown off some five years ago. It was designed to be a Part 103-legal ultralight aircraft. At 250 pounds empty weight, it fell into a category of aircraft that could be flown by anyone — FAA Part 103, which regulates ultralight flying machines, and permits recreational use of these aircraft even if pilots don’t hold a conventional pilot’s license. Kitty Hawk reports that over the course of this and other development projects, that they built and flew 111 aircraft. More than 75 people flew Flyer. All this -- and MORE in today's episode of Airborne-Unmanned!!!
