Sporty's Upgrades Its Frasca FTD

New Sim Software Has Intel Inside

Students in the University of Cincinnati Professional Pilot Program training at Sporty's Academy, as well as more than 100 flight training students at Eastern Cincinnati Aviation, are now able to fly a much more sophisticated and realistic Frasca flight training device (FTD) in either a single-engine or multiengine configuration.

A new Pentium PC with Frasca's latest processing software allows for a more realistic aerodynamic modeling and systems behavior, while a digital sound system upgrade produces additional engine and environmental sound simulations, enabling students to transfer more of what they learned in the FTD to the aircraft.

Frasca's newest simulated avionics package looks and operates very closely to the nav/com equipment found in new aircraft. In fact, the simulator has a KLN 94 GPS to provide all of the navigation position outputs as it would in the aircraft allowing full GPS approach capabilities.

More realism is added with a new Textured Color Visual System and a high-resolution color monitor. This technology greatly increases scene realism by adding detail to the images and provides more accurate weather simulation.

Students training at Sporty's Academy and Eastern Cincinnati Aviation may fly the simulator for private pilot through commercial pilot training, recurrent training, interview preparation and a variety of scenario-based training.
