Ehang Completes Passenger Test

Recently Obtained Certification For The EH216-S "Pilotless Passenger-Carrying Aerial Vehicle"

Chinese eVTOL manufacturer EHang completed a passenger-laden test flight using its EH216-S aircraft.

It's another milestone for the brand, which recently obtained certification for the EH216-S "pilotless passenger-carrying aerial vehicle" in its home market. The flight bore out the passenger carrying capability of the small eVTOL, showing prospective customers just what the aircraft can do. Guangzhou, and Heifei, China became the first high-profile home to EHang demonstrations, picked for their large metro populations and snarled commuter traffic. Short scenic tours of the local sights provided some fun highlights and photo opportunities for those in attendance. Most importantly for EHang was their invitee roster, which included laundry list of government stakeholders.

While on its little tour, EHang took the chance to solidify a joint effort with the Guangzhou locals. "Guangzhou Development District Communications Investment Group Co., Ltd. and Guangzhou Industrial Investment Capital today announced to jointly set up a Guangzhou Development District Low-Altitude Industry Venture Capital Fund with the target fund size of RMB 10 billion."

On top of that, the firm was able to reiterate a deal with the Hefei Municipal Government for the purchase of 100 EH216s. If they do not purchase that number, oddly enough, the Government affirmed its commitment to provide "financing support" up to a total of $100 million USD.
