Textron Pulls a U-Turn With NBAA-BACE

Company Re-Enters 2024 Convention Lineup

Just a week after publishing its withdrawal from the 2024 National Business Aviation Association’s Business Aviation Convention and Exhibition (NBAA-BACE), Textron Aviation has confirmed its re-entry to the exhibitor lineup.

What inducements NBAA may or may not have offered to affect this change of mind, have not been disclosed...

The display, featuring Textron’s new and improved Citation lineup, will take place from October 22 to 24 at Henderson Executive Airport (HND) in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Textron initially announced that it would be pulling out of the event on September 25, stating: “Textron Aviation continues its focus on designing and delivering the best aviation experience for our customers as we maintain our business operations during this time. With that, Textron Aviation and TRU Simulation, a Textron Aviation affiliated company, will not participate as exhibitors at the 2024 [NBAA-BACE].”

This came as a shock to the business aviation community, especially with Textron being such a prominent highlight of last year’s event. Company CEO Ron Draper revealed an agreement with flyExclusive to purchase up to 30 CJ3 Gen2 aircraft for its fleet during the 2023 NBAA-BACE.

Exactly one week later, Textron Aviation made a complete U-turn and formally confirmed its participation in this year’s convention. “In response to customer feedback, Textron Aviation will return to the 2024 [NBAA-BACE] with a static display of industry-leading Citation aircraft. The company’s presence will be focused on showcasing new product investments to the iconic Citation lineup,” the company stated.

Textron will be flaunting four current aircraft, including the Cessna Citation Longitude, Latitude, CJ4 Gen2, and M2 Gen2 models. It will also have the Cessna Citation Ascend and CJ3 Gen2 mockups on display.

The company is hosting a press conference at 3:00 pm PDT on October 21 at its NBAA-BACE exhibit. This intends to open a discussion regarding Textron’s latest investments and aircraft developments.

Several other mega-manufacturers will be exhibiting at the 2024 NBAA-BACE. These include Airbus, Boeing Business Jets, Bombardier, Cirrus, Embraer, Pilatus, Piper, and Tecnam. Gulfstream Aerospace and Dassault Falcon are not on this year’s list.
