CAF Provides Update On 'Rise Above' Mustang Incident

Red Tail Squadron Has Already Started The Process Of Relocating The Aircraft For Repair

As previously reported, the Commemorative Air Force’s P-51 Mustang Tuskegee Airmen had a runway excursion at Tallahassee International Airport on Thursday, November 4, in the afternoon around 2 p.m.

Only the pilot was onboard, and no injuries were reported. The incident caused some damage to the left main landing gear, the left wing, and the propeller. The Red Tail Squadron already started the process of relocating the aircraft for repairs. They anticipate the Mustang will be back in the air by April.

In the meantime; the RISE ABOVE Traveling Exhibit will continue on with their tour.

The exhibit contains a fully functional mobile movie theater featuring two compelling original short RISE ABOVE films that tell the story of the Tuskegee Airmen or the WASP, and the obstacles they both overcame to be able to serve their country during WWII. This immersive experience is housed in a climate controlled 53’ semi-trailer with expandable sides and equipped with a ramp and hydraulic lift to ensure access to all, comfortably accommodating 30 visitors for each showing.

Because of its dynamic 160-degree panoramic screen, the film creates the feeling of being in the cockpit soaring above the clouds. Admission to the exhibit is always FREE to event attendees.
