New Jersey Man Accused Of Shooting Down Neighbor's UAV

Had Been Getting Aerial Photographs Of A Friend’s House That Was Under Construction

A New Jersey man is under arrest after he allegedly aimed a shotgun at his neighbor's remote controlled helicopter and pulled the trigger, bringing the aircraft down, according to police.

The RC helo owner was reportedly flying over a friend's under-construction home on September 26, taking aerial photos, according to a report from Philadelphia television station KYW. He told the Lower Township, NJ police that as he was flying the RC helicopter over the house, he heard several gunshots, and he lost control of the aircraft.

When police arrived they found the aircraft with damage "consistent with a shotgun blast." The pilot directed them towards where he thought the shots had originated, and police arrested 32-year-old Russell J. Percenti for allegedly shooting at the aircraft.

Percenti reportedly posted bail and was released. The shotgun thought to be used in the incident was confiscated by police.
