Office Personnel Get Up Close With Equipment at JAMinar

Event Familiarizes New Employees With Program Support Role

The Program Office for the Airborne Electronic Attack (AEA) Systems (PMA-234) hosted a pilot program intended to give new office personnel valuable in-person knowledge as well as office-focused courses to enable them to lend better support to the program and its warfighters in the field.

In a nod to radar jammers the event was called JAMinar and provided a focused overview of the office and its role in the mission of Program Executive Office for Tactical Aircraft Programs and Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR).

Class participants were given overviews of the organization, Electronic Warfare principles, and the equipment used including the EEA-18G Growler. They also were shown how the Tactical Jamming System and Next Generation Jammer pods are integrated into the aircraft. Tours of the pod shop as well as Air Test and Evaluation Squadron Two Three (VX-23) provided an up-close and personal experience for the new office workers so they can better understand how what they’re doing supports the program.

Finally, they got a tour of a Bell UH-1Y helicopter which carries the Intrepid Tiger II Electronic Warfare pod for the Marine Corps.

Program Manager, Capt. David Rueter explained, “It is vital to educate our new teammates with the foundational knowledge of AEA and familiarize them with our Joint Program Office (JPO). Whether you’ve worked in NAVAIR for five years or five months, every program office is distinctive and we want to ensure everyone understands the mission and vision of our organization and JPO partnership.”
