The Public Is Invited To Visit The Museum, Located In Pensacola, FL, And Join The Celebration
The Naval Aviation Museum Foundation invites the public to visit the Naval Aviation Museum in celebration of its 50th anniversary. The Foundation plans three days of special events and aircraft displays on Oct. 3, 4 and 5, culminating with a black-tie 50th anniversary gala on Saturday, Oct. 5. Visitors are invited to enjoy special 50th anniversary menu at the Cubi Point Café, and shop for limited-edition anniversary items at the Flight Deck Museum Store. The foundation says it is an opportunity to be part of history and celebrate this community treasure, the National Naval Aviation Museum.
According to a foundation news release, the first 50 entrants to the museum each day will receive a free souvenir 50th anniversary coin (limit one per family). There will be a special display of the latest in aerospace technology, Northrop-Grumman’s X-47B unmanned tactical aircraft, and an aviation art show display in the Quarterdeck area.
Other events that will continue through the celebration are two daily 50th anniversary museum tours titled “Walk through Naval Aviation History”.
There will be a car show on Saturday featuring the Ford Mustang as it approaches its 50th anniversary in 2014, and at 1100 EDT, a free IMAX film featuring the Blue Angels in action; "The Magic of Flight", on the IMAX giant screen.
Saturday night is the 50th Anniversary black-tie gala celebration at the National Naval Aviation Museum, reservations and tickets, available for purchase online, are required.
