ACSS Achieves FAA Organization Designation Authorization

Company May Now Issue Supplemental Type Certificates

The FAA has appointed ACSS, an L3 and Thales company, as a holder of an Organization Designation Authorization (ODA) to issue Supplemental Type Certificates (STCs).

The STC ODA enables ACSS to act on behalf of the FAA in managing certification projects and determining compliance in accordance with stringent FAA procedures, guidelines and oversight. This designation permits ACSS to conduct more than a dozen specified functions and issue STCs and airworthiness certificates for more than 60 different types of commercial airliners and business jet models.

“ODA approval is a major achievement that reflects our demonstrated commitment to safety, quality and compliance,” said Terry Flaishans, President of ACSS. “Our employees worked very closely with the FAA to achieve this expanded authorization, which will streamline STC processes and increase efficiencies for both our customers and the FAA.”

The designation encompasses a range of ACSS products, including Traffic Alert and Collision Avoidance Systems (TCAS), transponder systems, Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B) systems, wind shear detection systems and Terrain Awareness Warning Systems (TAWS).
