Angel Flight West Makes Thanksgiving Crowdfunding Appeal

Has A Fundraising Goal Of $50,000 By December 3

Angel Flight West is looking to individuals to raise $50,000, which would allow the organization to help some 200 children in 2015.

The Santa Monica, CA-based non-profit organization has set up a crowdfunding campaign on IndiGogo, and as of this writing has raised over $34,000 in the effort. But they need to raise the rest before the campaign ends December 3.

The group organizes flights on private airplanes for critically ill children to see specialists to which they they might not otherwise have access. "Helping one child costs approximately $250 x 200 children = $50,000 - so every $250 dollar we raise, flies another child to often life-saving and critical medical attention," Angel Flight West said on the IndiGogo site.

Angel Flight West has been serving the community for 31 years.  The organization can arrange flights to 13 western states, (Alaska, Hawaii, Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, New Mexico, Nevada, Oregon, Washington, Wyoming and Utah), according to information posted on IndiGogo.

Pilots and patients work through the organization to commit to a course of appointments. Those are coordinated with doctors, hospitals, clinics and specialists and patient schedules and treatments. "We stay with the trips from start to finish because inevitably plans can change, a patient becomes too sick to travel, or weather conditions too bad to fly in, so we have to be on the alert for these changes and handle all the surprises along the way."
