Coast Guard Crew Rescues Lost Pilot

Model Airplane Still Unaccounted For

A US Coast Guard helicopter crew rescued a California model airplane pilot trapped on San Bruno Mountain Monday evening, after firefighters called the agency for assistance.

A local newspaper reports an HH-65 helicopter from Coast Guard Air Station San Francisco plucked the 44-year-old from a location about a third of a mile up the mountain at about 7:15 pm local time after he became stuck... while looking for his plane.

The man and his son had reportedly been flying radio controlled models when one went missing. A family member called 911 after the man started up to look for the plane, and became stranded.

Coast Guard officials say the man was not hurt. There's no word on whether the missing plane was found.

But what a story he'll have at the next meeting of the R/C club!
