Even Designers See that BlackFly is One of the Most Show-Ready eVTOLs on the Market
Pivotal got some bragging rights after their Helix eVTOL won the 2024 MUSE Transportation Design of the Year Award, with the company itself netting the Platinum 2024 MUSE Design Award for technical and creative excellence.

It's always nice for up-and-comers to build up some excitement for their upcoming products, and the Helix is plenty fresh enough to use the buzz. The Helix will be Pivotal's first production aircraft, released into the US Domestic market at the very start of 2024. So far it hasn't quite caught on in the marketplace just yet, but it's still early in the game for personal vertical-takeoff aircraft. On the other hand, most in the aeronautical industry probably know the Helix by its older name from its public appearances in years past: The Blackfly. Pivotal even underwent a name change, too, from its original 'Opener' name. The Helix offers all the necessary features to compete, too, being compact enough to store at home in a 16-ft trailer and set up for flight in about half an hour. Once ready, the Helix gives pilots a simple cockpit layout and admirable performance with a short recharge period. It's a fun little runabout by all indications, and all Pivotal really needs to flesh out the pilot base is to
get would-be customers to know their aircraft is already on the market.

"Receiving the MUSE Transportation Design of the Year Award reflects our relentless pursuit of innovation and excellence in the development of light eVTOL aircraft,” said Ken Karklin, CEO, Pivotal. “This recognition reaffirms that we are leading a sea change in the world of transportation. The market is ready, our technology is real, and our aircraft delivers the beauty and freedom of personal flight to a growing number of people with a passion for flying.”
"Creativity knows no bounds; it's the cornerstone of every great design. At IAA, we're committed to honoring and promoting the brilliance and originality that propel the creative process forward," explained Thomas Brandt, spokesperson of IAA. He continued, "with every stroke of genius, we're reminded of the enormous potential of human imagination."
