Aero-News Alert: Sebring FL's US Sport Aviation Expo Postponed Due to Hurricane

Yet another aviation event has been forced to reschedule itself as a result of the whims of Mother Nature.

The US Sport Aviation Expo organizing committee has just finished a meeting in which they were forced to assess the threat posed by Hurricane Wilma, now readying to make landfall in Florida this Monday. As a result of the uncertainty of the storm's track, intensity and issues with the main provider of tents and associated equipment, the Expo has been postponed to January 12-15th, 2006.

Phil Lockwood contacted ANN just a few minutes ago with the bad news, and related that the deciding factor revolved around the vendor providing tent services and their requirements in light of the impending storm -- as well as responsibilities they had to FEMA in the event of landfall.

"We really didn't have much choice in the matter," noted Lockwood, who along with other Florida businesses (including a slightly weather-beaten ANN...) has weathered several other hurricanes in the last year.
