Gone West: Aerobatic Pilot Klein Gilhousen

Was Former Member Of The IAC Board Of Directors

ANN has learned that Klein Gilhousen, a dedicated aerobatic pilot in both power and glider, and a former member of the IAC Board of Directors passed away on April 14th.

The IAC posted a notice of Gilhousen's passing on its Facebook page.

Klein resided in Bozeman, Montana for 25 years and was one of the founders of QualComm. A successful businessman and brilliant engineer, he deeply loved aerobatics and its people. He also served as IAC's glider chairman for several years and flew in the World Glider Aerobatic Championships in Austria in 2007. He competed on several occasions in both power and glider at the US Nationals.

A kind and thoughtful man, he will be deeply missed by his many friends in the aerobatic community. A private graveside ceremony will be held at Sunset Hills Cemetery. A celebration of Klein’s life will be held 2:00 pm on April 30th at Hope Lutheran Church in Bozeman.

In lieu of flowers, the family would ask that a donation be made to Klein’s final philanthropic project, Yellowstone Theological Institute. Donations may be made online at yellowstonetheology.org/giving-to-yti or via check to Yellowstone Theological Institute, P.O. Box 1347, Bozeman, MT 59771. Make a note that this is for the “Klein Gilhousen Memorial.”
