NATA Lauds ASTM Approval Of Swift Unleaded Avgas

100R Fuel Gains International Production Specification

Swift Fuels announced on September 4 that ASTM International published its approval for Swift’s 100R unleaded avgas for an ASTM International Production Specification. This achievement caps years of research by the team at Swift Fuels working together with the FAA, numerous engine OEMs from Lycoming, Continental Aerospace, Rotax. Textron Aviation, Piper, and others.

The National Air Transportation Association praised Swift Fuels on the announcement in a statement released by Curt Castagna, President and CEO of NATA.

He said, “The approval of 100R for an ASTM International production specification represents another significant step in the transition to unleaded aviation fuel, while strengthening our industry’s commitment to safety. NATA applauds the leadership and dedication of Swift Fuels and all who contributed to this milestone achievement.”

The voting committees of ASTM are comprised of several hundred companies worldwide including oil companies, fuel experts, and representatives from military and civilian entities. The exacting ASTM process is supported by experts from all segments of the aviation industry, and confirms that a fuel meets the highest global standards for safety and performance.

Flight schools in the U.S. and Europe are already successfully and safely using Swift Fuels’ 100R unleaded gas, and availability is expected to expand more broadly in the coming months.

NATA states that it will continue to support a safe and smooth transition to unleaded avgas by providing its members with resources, education, and advocacy. NATA is a leading member of the joint FAA-industry EAGLE, or the Eliminate Aviation Gasoline Lead Emissions initiative.
