New Helicopter Training Scholarship Announced

High Desert Helicopters Now Accepting Applications

Rotorcraft flight school High Desert Helicopters has announced the availability of a new flight training scholarship. The scholarship program, titled the "High Desert Helicopters Aviator Scholarship Program," was unveiled at the academy's Summer of Aviation event this past weekend. The scholarship will be awarded to three candidates annually based on demonstrated aptitude, professionalism and financial need.

High Desert Helicopters tells ANN it hopes to lessen the financial barrier of training for the most promising prospective students.

"The helicopter industry faces a unique human resources challenge," the company says. "The ability to fill pilot positions within the industry is a growing problem that is only expected to worsen over the next ten years. Significant industry growth and the retirement of Vietnam era pilots are helping to fuel pilot demand. The high cost of pilot training and the lack of good student lending resources is further crimping the future supply of trained pilots."

This year scholarships will be awarded on November 1, 2008 with an application deadline set for October 1st, 2008. Applications are now being accepted. Scholarship requirements and further details may be found on the academy's website.

High Desert Helicopters, LLC is based at the Ogden-Hinckley Airport in Ogden, UT.
