Air Race Classic Returns For 2025!

Registration Opens January 2, 2025... Don't Pass This Up (GREAT Event)

The folks of the Air Race Classic have let ANN know that registration opens January 2, 2025, for the 48th Air Race Classic (ARC) to be held June 17-20, 2025. Women pilots from across the United States and around the world will take off Tuesday, June 17, from H. L. “Sonny” Callahan Airport in Fairhope, Alabama, for a 2,426 statute mile competition across 9 states that ends Friday, June 20, at Felts Field in Spokane, Washington.

New Glenn successfully completed an integrated launch vehicle hotfire test over the holiday week, the final major milestone on our road to first flight. VMFA-314 Deployed With Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 9, July 11, 2024

The “Black Knights” of Marine Fighter Attack Squadron (VMFA) 314 returned to their home base with the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar following a five-month deployment with Carrier Strike Group (CSG) 3 to the U.S. 7th and 5th Fleet areas of operation, Dec. 14, 2024. Following completion of a four-week composite training unit exercise (COMPTUEX), VMFA-314 deployed with Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 9, July 11, 2024, and embarked aboard the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72).

USAF Aeromedical Branch Approves SPYDR Device

Currently, SPYDR Has Been Issued A “Safe To Fly” For Use On Several Aircraft

After an extensive test and evaluation process, the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center’s Aeromedical Systems Branch has officially certified that SPYDR is safe for use on select aircraft. SPYDR, by Spotlight Labs, are small earcups with an integrated blood oxygen and heart rate sensor, which rest on an artery underneath the ear, to allow for real-time monitoring and alerting of impending physiological events.

NTSB Prelim: Piper PA28 (A1); Cessna 172 (A2)

(Instructor) Heard A “Crunching Metal Noise” And Realized Another Airplane Had Collided With The Cabin Roof

On December 9, 2024, about 1630 eastern standard time, a Piper PA-28-181, N90874, and a Cessna 172S, N497SJ, were substantially damaged when they were involved in a midair collision near Pahokee, Florida. The flight instructor and student pilot in the Piper were not injured. The flight instructor, private pilot receiving instruction, and student pilot observer in the Cessna were also not injured. The airplanes were operated as Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 instructional flights.
