AD: EADS CASA Airplanes

AD NUMBER: 2013-23-02

PRODUCT: All EADS CASA (Type Certificate previously held by Construcciones Aeronauticas, S.A.) Model CN-235, CN-235-100, CN-235-200, CN-235-300, and C-295 airplanes.
SUBJECT: Airworthiness Directive 2013-23-02
ACTION: Final rule; request for comments.

SUMMARY: This AD requires inspection of the feeder cables of certain fuel booster pumps for damage (including, but not limited to, signs of electrical arcing and fuel leaks), and replacement if necessary.

This AD was prompted by a report of an in-flight problem with the fuel transfer system.

The FAA is issuing this AD to detect and correct damage to certain fuel booster pumps, which could create an ignition source in the fuel tank vapor space, and result in a fuel tank explosion and consequent loss of the airplane.

DATES: This AD becomes effective December 2, 2013. Comments must be received by December 30, 2013.
