EAA Awarded STC For TruTrak Autopilots

PMA’d Install Kits Available For C172 And C177

The FAA has granted an STC to EAA for PMA'd autopilot install kits on Cessna 172 and 177 from TruTrak Flight Systems.

TruTrak received their Low Risk PMA, on March 30.  TruTrak is continuing to work with EAA on the remainder of the Vizion autopilot approval, which is expected later this summer.

TruTrak will begin selling the install kits at Sun-N-Fun in Lakeland, FL.  Install kits will be priced at $1000 and will include all required mounting brackets, AN hardware, and will include a free wiring harness.  TruTrak will be displaying their Cessna 172 aircraft at EAA’s outdoor booth LD-007.  The Vizion autopilot will be installed in the aircraft so that patrons may see and learn about the system.

TruTrak has been working very closely with the FAA on a new “Risk Based PMA” approval process.  Under this new process, once the ACO determines the risk level for a project, the facility PMA requirements are scaled accordingly.  The applicant and MIDO interaction is greatly simplified for projects that are Low Risk, which translates to faster approval times and much less time and money spent on mapping / explaining a company's existing quality system.

“Receiving the STC and facility PMA gets two of the big steps out of the way in this certification project.”  said CEO Andrew Barker “Without the new Risk Based PMA process, none of this would be possible.  The FAA has been listening to the problems with PMA and they have stepped up with a great new product that is so much easier to understand and follow.  It has been a pleasure working with EAA and the FAA on this project and we are excited about keeping this momentum going and finishing up the rest of the approval by summer.”
