Public And Bipartisan Criticism Prompts Course Reversal

For some odd reason, the U.S. Air Force decided that the removal of videos of Tuskegee Airmen and WASPS from its curriculum was required by the military DEI ban announced by President Trump.

The focus on removing DEI “training” in the military is one thing, but cutting out the critically important contribution of black pilots during World War II and its ongoing influence on the entry of young black men and women into aviation and the military is quite another.

The outcry from all areas of the public, military, aviation, and the government has reached the highest levels and led the Air Force to reinstate into the curriculum the video about the famous Tuskegee Airmen as well as one depicting the contributions of the Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASPs).

Senator Katie Britt (R-AL) posted on X, “I have no doubt Secretary Hegseth will correct and get to the bottom of the malicious compliance we’ve seen in recent days. President Trump celebrated and honored the Tuskegee Airmen during his first term, promoting legendary aviator Charles McGee to Brigadier General and pinning his stars in the Oval Office.”

Newly confirmed U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth wrote in response, “We’re all over it Senator. This will not stand.”

Lt. Gen. Brian Robinson, Air Education and Training Command commander for the Air Force said in a statement, “The revised training which focuses on the documented historic legacy and decorated valour with which these units and airmen fought for our nation in World War II and beyond will continue on 27 January.”
