NBAA Joins Coalition Backing Duffy ATC Modernization Plan

Modern Skies Unites Over 50 Aviation Industry Organizations

The National Business Aviation Association threw its weight behind Modern Skies, an aviation industry coalition of more than 50 organizations, in endorsing Department of Transportation Secretary Sean P. Duffy’s proposal to invest in completely overhauling the nation’s air traffic control system.

Ed Bolen, President and CEO of NBAA said in remarks delivered at the event in Washington, D.C. unveiling the DOT’s plan: “Our mission is clear. The United States needs to invest in the people, facilities and equipment to usher in a new era of air transportation.

“One that will safely, securely, efficiently and sustainably accommodate the growing demand for travel and the amazing diversity of aircraft and operations that are coming to the marketplace.

“Secretary Duffy’s plan cements America as a global leader in aviation, investing in both technology and the air traffic control workforce to enhance U.S. aviation safety and reliability. The swift implementation of these updates is not just important, it’s imperative. We commend the Secretary for his focus on speed, efficiency, and safety and we fully support his call for Congress to provide the necessary funding.

“The plan makes clear that we are investing in technologies that will increase bandwidth and connectivity; enhance situational awareness, and leverage advances in state-of-the-art radar. And it will all be done in a few short years.

“We will be investing in new facilities designed to accommodate the people and equipment we need to be the safest, largest, most efficient and most dynamic air transportation system in the world not just today but for decades to come.

“A system that embraces a diverse mix of aircraft and operations should be a national priority.

“Thanks to the plan put forward today, it is.

“The business aviation community, all of the general aviation industry – in fact, the entirety of our nation’s aviation industry – is galvanized in its support for this plan. We are fully committed to working in concert with each other to make it a reality.

“Today is a great day for America’s air transportation system and the future of our country.”
