At The Lecturn: NBC's Robert Hager

Retired Journalist Will Speak About Aviation At Smithsonian March 31st

With sparks of angst flying between general aviation and the general media, perhaps a little communication is in order. To that end, retired NBC Correspondent Robert Hagar will conduct a lecture at the Air & Space Museum's Lockheed IMAX Theater on the Mall in Washington March 31st.

Hagar was an NBC News correspondent for over 30 years, filing more than 5,000 reports for the "Today" show and "NBC Nightly News." He is a recognized expert in the transportation field, and frequently covered large weather-related stories. He has reported on nearly every major airliner crash in the last 20 years, as well as the biggest storms in modern time.

After Hagar retired from NBC in November 2004, he described his career in journalism as "a great way to spend one's life: interesting, challenging, rewarding, and - apart from some of the grim stories - often a lot of fun."

At 1900 local, the Smithsonian will show the IMAX film Fighter Pilot: Operation Red Flag, the newest addition to the Lockheed Martin IMAX Theater lineup. Fighter Pilot: Operation Red Flag follows American F-15 Eagle pilot John Stratton as he trains with some of the world's best pilots. The movie depicts Stratton's progression through the challenging and dangerous exercises of Operation Red Flag, the international training program for air forces of allied countries.
