EAA Turbocharges Young Eagles Program for 30th Anniversary

Participating Volunteers Eligible for Goodies, Merch, And Chapter Credits for Program Supplies

Celebrating the Young Eagles Program’s 30th anniversary, the EAA has loaded the year with fun activities to commemorate 3 decades of flight introduction.

Following the launch of the program at this year’s AirVenture 2022, the organization kicked off its “Young Eagles 30 Flight for 30 Years”, which will award a commemorative Young Eagles anniversary themed polo shirt to all aviators who fly 30 program participants from August 1, 2022 to July 31, 2022. The EAA will track the flights through their recordkeeping and contact those pilots who reach their milestones to claim their prize.

Participants can follow along with the EAA’s effort to create the World’s Largest Logbook through the anniversary page. Similarly, ground volunteers will also be recognized this year, as the EAA says it wants to show appreciation for the “unsung heroes” of chapter rallies across the country, Young Eagles coordinators can order their own commemorative 30th pins as recognition items via the org’s website.

Along with the niceties for volunteers, the EAA is actively recruiting new Young Eagles pilots looking to induct the next generation of aviators into the fold. As such, they’ll be giving away a Lightspeed Zulu 3 headset every month, given to a lucky recipient drawn from those who flew their first Young Eagle between August 1 and July 31 of next year. For chapters, the EAA will be offering double credits ($10 per flight) to chapters participating in the program. Those credits are accrued on a calendar year basis, and can be redeemed the following calendar year for a wide variety of items to improve their program, like sponsoring Air Academy attendees or acquiring supplies and equipment. At the top end, stuff like the Young Eagles Build and Fly Kit allows chapters to introduce kids to the fun of RC model building and flying. Those credits begin accruing from January 1, 2023 and end at the finale of AirVenture 2023 on July 31, 2023.
