SkyCourier Receives Type Certification In Canada

Enables Operational Support In Remote Areas Of North America

Textron Aviation announced that its Cessna SkyCourier twin-engine large utility turboprop received type certification by Transport Canada Civil Aviation (TCCA), enabling the expansion of the aircraft’s ability to support operational activities in some of North America’s most remote areas.

The first SkyCourier in the region is the freighter variant and is expected to be delivered to Air Bravo Corporation, a passenger, cargo, and air ambulance service with bases in Thunder Bay, Sudbury, Barrie, and Meaford, Ontario.

Lannie O’Bannion, SVP of Global Sales and Flight Operations for Textron Aviation said, “The SkyCourier’s outstanding performance will be a game-changer for our customers across Canada. The maximum flexibility and low operating costs of this aircraft make it an excellent choice for a wide range of missions throughout the region.”

The SkyCourier is a highly adaptable aircraft that can easily adjust configurations to be effective for any mission, and is able to be operated by a single pilot. It has the capacity and performance to be ideal for air freight, passenger transport, and special missions. It is also very capable for operations in remote areas.

The SkyCourier is available in freighter and passenger variants as well as a Combi configuration for added flexibility. The freighter features a flat-floor cabin spacious enough to handle three LD3 shipping containers with a 6,000 payload capacity. Both variants have a large cargo door and single-point pressure refueling for fast turnarounds.

The aircraft is powered by two wing-mounted Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6A-65SC turboprop engines with the McCauley Propeller C779, a heavy-duty 110-inch four-blade aluminum prop that is full-feathering with reversible pitch. The SkyCourier is equipped with the Garmin G1000 NXi avionics suite and has a max cruise speed of more than 200 ktas and max range of 900 nautical miles.
