But No Signs Of The Six People Onboard
Rescuers combing through the Bahia region of northeastern
Brazil, in hopes of locating a missing plane and the six people
onboard, found some wreckage from the Cessna 310 Tuesday night...
but so far, there's no sign of survivors or bodies onboard the
plane.
As ANN reported, search
efforts initially focused on an area 20 miles north of Ilheus,
where an eyewitness said they had seen a small plane flying
unusually low and without lights on Friday evening. According to
The Guardian, four British passengers onboard the chartered twin
were scouting out land for a proposed luxury housing development,
when controllers lost contact with the plane's pilots.
"We are planning to fly until sunset, and then start again
tomorrow," a spokesperson for Brazil's air force said Tuesday. "We
have a boat from the navy, two airforce C-95 planes, and one
helicopter. We are searching for more wreckage over the area. So
far we have found part of a seat and part of a place where luggage
is stored."
Curiously, the British Consulate's office in Rio de Janeiro said
the wreckage was discovered washed up on a beach about 60 miles
from where the plane disappeared.
The British men onboard were identified as Nigel Hodges, Alan
Kempson, Sean Woodhall, and Ricky Every, by the charter company,
Aero Star. Clovis de Figueiredo e Silva and Leandro Oliveira Veloso
are the two missing Brazilian pilots.
Weather conditions at the time of the accident were described as
favorable, according to Brazilian authorities.
