Heppner Elected Chair Of United Executive Council

Captain Has Flown For United For 28 Years

Captain Jay Heppner, a 28-year veteran of United Airlines and a long-time representative of the pilots of United Airlines, has been elected Chairman of the United Master Executive Council of the Air Line Pilots Association. The election was held during the initial meeting of the merged United Master Executive Council, composed of members of the former United and Continental MECs.

Captain Bob Fox, a 17-year UAL veteran and another long-time ALPA volunteer, was elected Vice Chairman. Captain Dave Earnest, a 35-year veteran with Continental Airlines, was elected Secretary and Captain Eric Hunter, a 23-year veteran with Continental, was elected Treasurer.

"The history of both our former airlines is rich with pride. We will remember that as we build our new history together," said Captain Heppner, who has served as the United MEC Chairman the past two years. "We stand in solidarity, 12,000 United-pilots strong."

"As we blend two separate cultures, we will seize the opportunities before us, combining the best facets of both pilot groups. This is a new and exciting beginning for United pilots. While we are ever mindful of our past, we will not lose our focus on our collective future. We embrace the challenges ahead and look forward to working together toward achieving a better future for our pilots, our airline and the passengers who entrust us each time they step on a United aircraft."

The new slate of officers began their terms immediately.
