Air Show In Dasara, India Abruptly Cancelled

Indian Air Force Cites A Scheduling Conflict

Visitors arriving at the Lalitha Mahal Palace helipad to watch the Dasara air show on Tuesday were surprised and angry to find that the show had been abruptly cancelled.

The show was expected to be the centerpiece of the 10-day Dasara celebration in Mysore.

Event organizers said they did not get the word until late Monday that the Indian Air Force would not put on the show, which had been shifted from Bannimantap to the more central location at the helipad to accommodate more people. The newspaper The Hindu reports that the IAF said the Mysore event conflicted with the closing of the Commonwealth Games, and they would not be able to make both performances.
