Concerns about the amount of voluntary compliance with a low-cost Service Bulletin affecting certain 520 and 550 series engines have caused Continental Aerospace Technologies to turn it into a Mandatory Service Bulletin, with Continental shouldering the costs for the actual required work.

Continental is re-categorizing SB18-08A to an MSB MSB18-08B. This re-categorization is needed due to the low percentage of compliance. CAT notes that, “We have not seen any cylinder failures in the field that comply with the bulletin so our goal is to drive safety while encouraging a higher percentage of compliance.” Texas Aircraft has delivered its first Colt-SL S-LSA to Ricky Youschak, of Gainesville, Florida. Further; this first airplane boast some custom touches, just for Youschak. Among those ‘special touches’ provided by Texas Aircraft was an orange and blue, University of Florida Gators inspired paint scheme. The Colt is a new entrant in the somewhat competitive LSA market. The all-aluminum two seat, semi-cantilevered high wing airframe, features a Ballistic parachute system, and four-point safety harnesses. Powered by the 100 horsepower Rotax 912 ULS powerplant, the Colt claims a 105 knot indicated airspeed (KIAS) with a top speed of 119 knots. The cockpit is built
around a Dynon Glass panel system. The Chapter 11 Disclosure Statement presented by Tamarack Aerospace which outlines its plan to pay back all debtors as it emerges from bankruptcy, has been approved by the court. Tamarack is rebounding from the grounding of its Cessna Citation Jet fleet that were equipped with Active Winglets. Tamarack voluntarily went into Chapter 11 reorganization in June 2019 and expects to come out of the bankruptcy by early spring of 2020, an unusually short time for this kind of reorganization process. All this -- and MORE in today's episode of Airborne!!!
