NBAA Announces Recipients of 2011 Corporate Aviation Management Scholarship

Individuals Will Be Recognized At The Leadership Conference, Feb. 23-24

The NBAA announced Friday that four individuals have been selected by the Association's Corporate Aviation Management Committee as recipients of the 2011 Corporate Aviation Management Scholarship.

Each scholarship includes a value equivalent to $1,650 to cover expenses associated with attendance at NBAA's 2011 Leadership Conference, taking place on February 23 and 24, 2011, in San Diego. Attendance at this conference promotes the professional development and leadership skills of individuals seeking careers in flight department management.

The Corporate Aviation Management Scholarship, now in its seventh year, is sponsored by AvFuel and NBAA. Representatives from each of these entities will be present at the NBAA Leadership Conference to recognize this year's recipients.

Those recipients are:

  • Morgan Hall, a graduate student at Purdue University working on her master's in aviation aerospace management. She currently works for OAG Aviation as a maintenance repair and overhaul fleet analyst. She is a commercial multi-engine pilot with an instrument rating and a flight instructor. Hall feels business aviation is an appealing industry because it is diverse and progressive, and she views the Leadership Conference as an excellent place for her to learn more about the industry she is so passionate about.
  • Matthew Nelson, who began his aviation career watching F4 Phantoms fly overhead with the Air National Guard. He has a solid background in avionics and aircraft electrical systems and is Duncan Aviation's manager of satellite operations, responsible for developing, leading and expanding a 100-person workforce based in 23 cities nationwide.
  • Kevin Otterstrom, who is pursuing a master's degree from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and taking classes at Stanford University in strategic decision making and risk management. He has a bachelor's degree in aviation management from the University of North Dakota and has worked for L-3 Communications assisting in the development of night vision equipment. He has an ATP and flew for American Fence Company.
  • Chad Schweinzger, who holds a master's in aviation and aerospace management from Purdue University and currently works as a revenue management analyst for American Airlines. He is working to build hours to fulfill his dream of becoming a business aviation professional.
