flyExclusive and SmartSky Complete Citation XL Wi-Fi Installation

flyExclusive Receives FAA Part 145 Certification

Air-To-Ground (ATG) connectivity system developer SmartSky Networks announced that its Wi-Fi service had been installed aboard a Cessna Citation XL jet belonging to flyExclusive, the North Carolina-based charter operator and aircraft fractional ownership concern.

The STC installation of the SmartSky’s flagship system was the second such modification completed by flyExclusive’s MRO services team, and represents an important milestone in the upgrading of flyExclusive’s forty-aircraft Citation XL fleet to SmartSky’s connectivity solution. flyExclusive formerly installed SmartSky’s inflight Wi-Fi system aboard its fleet of super-midsize Citation X jets.

The FAA certificate for the XL STC was issued on 08 June 2023.

flyExclusive CEO Mike Guina stated: "flyExclusive is one of the nation’s leading private aviation providers because we have focused everything we do on our customers and making every minute matter for them. The milestone we’ve achieved with SmartSky Networks means that more of our customers will be able to maximize their time in the air by staying connected to what’s happening with their businesses and families on the ground.”

flyExclusive’s vertically integrated business model allows the company to maintain, repair, and operate its own jets at its Kinston, North Carolina headquarters. flyExclusive’s MRO team announced in May that it had achieved FAA Part 145 Certification, thereby earning the authority to legally install third-party systems aboard the company’s fleet as well as aircraft owned by other operators.

SmartSky president Ryan Stone remarked: “flyExclusive’s MRO team did an incredible job with the STC installation on the XL, completing it in just 210 labor hours. We are ecstatic for even more flyExclusive customers to get to experience SmartSky’s unprecedented Wi-Fi performance in the sky.”
