AerCap Selects Pratt & Whitney To Power 10 New A320neo Aircraft

Brings PW1100G-JM-Powered Fleet To 100 Airplanes

AerCap has chosen the Pratt & Whitney PurePower Geared Turbofan engine to power an additional 10 Airbus A320neo aircraft. The order, originally announced as options, brings AerCap's PW1100G-JM engine powered fleet to 100 aircraft.

"AerCap is the largest owner of Airbus A320neo family aircraft, with over 200 aircraft on order," said AerCap Chief Executive Officer Aengus Kelly. "We are committed to providing our customers with operational efficiency and profitability. With the success we have had placing Pratt & Whitney powered A320neos in the marketplace, we look forward to further enhancing our fleet with additional Pratt & Whitney PurePower engines."

"The award-winning PurePower engine will provide AerCap with revolutionary technology that delivers significant total cost reductions."

The Pratt & Whitney PurePower engine family is powering 10 in-service aircraft on four airlines that are flying up to eight flights per day and together have logged more than 3,000 revenue flights. The Geared Turbofan engine is demonstrating mature reliability levels of approximately 99.8 percent and has met all of its performance commitments from the start including a 16 percent reduction in fuel burn, a 75 percent decrease in the noise footprint and a 50 percent reduction in regulated emissions.
