Atlantic City Officials Call Off 2025 Airshow

Marks Airshow’s Second Consecutive Cancellation

On December 19, Atlantic City officials announced that they would be canceling the 2025 Atlantic City Airshow. The team also grounded the 2024 event earlier this year after a major act withdrew.

Officials explained the cancellation as a ‘strategic pause,’ allowing them to review community engagement strategies, spending trends, event logistics, and their ambitions for future Airshows. They aim to rebuild an economically sustainable airshow after nearly 20 years of holding the title as New Jersey’s largest free event.

The 2024 Atlantic City Airshow was also called off, but for different reasons. This was a more surprising announcement seeing as the state’s Governor, Phil Murphy, had provided $300,000 in funding from the South Jersey Transportation Authority’s budget to keep the show alive.

“We regret to announce the cancellation of the 2024 Visit Atlantic City Airshow due to a major act withdrawing from the Airshow,” explained a joint statement from the Greater Atlantic City Chamber alongside Visit Atlantic City and the South Jersey Transportation Authority. “This decision was not made lightly, and we understand the disappointment it may cause. We extend our heartfelt thanks and gratitude to all who have supported this event over the past number of years.”

The first airshow in Atlantic City was held in 1910 on the strip between Tennessee Avenue and Arkansas Avenue. Almost 100,000 locals attended, quickly turning the event into a community tradition. The Atlantic City Airshow has since drawn hundreds of thousands of attendees to the Jersey Shore, with nearly 500,000 people visiting the 2023 show. This created a $50 million impact on the region’s economy.

“We recognize the Airshow’s significant role in our community and to the tourism economy, and we are steadfast in our dedication to preserving its legacy, while adapting to current economic realities,” officials expressed.
