Aero-TV At SnF21: Triple Threat! Diamond’s Truly ‘Next Generation’ DA40 NG

21st Century Airframe, Glass Panel AND A Next-Gen Aviation Diesel Engine... What’s NOT To Love?

If there’s one thing that we at ANN keep an eye out for, it's the kind of airplane that can help a new generation of pilot take to the skies... and there are few airframes as persuasive or prominent as Diamond’s latest rendition of the sturdy DA40 NG... with a Jet-A powered Diesel Engine.

It’s the 168 hp turbocharged Austro AE300 jet fuel engine that sets the DA40 NG far apart from most aircraft. In addition to the fact that you’ll be burning (usually) less expensive Jet-A, you’ll also likely be burning less of it to begin with... especially in a flight training role. Further; as a turbocharged installation, this powerplant allows the aircraft to maintain serious cruise power settings much higher than normally aspirated engines. And oh... by the way, this engine is FADEC controlled... so no more games with hot starts and the like... the computer covers your posterior at all times and also sports a single lever power system.

The four seat aircraft uses a large luscious canopy to enhance visibility with two rows of side by side seats. With the latest generation of G1000 (the NXi), the DA40 NG brings everything up to date inside, outside and under the cowl.

Aero-TV is a production of the Internationally syndicated Aero-News Network. Seen worldwide by hundreds of thousands of aviators and aviation adherents, ANN's Aero-TV has produced over 5000 aviation and feature programs, including nearly 2000 episodes of our daily aviation news program, AIRBORNE UNLIMITED, currently hosted by Kimberly Kay. Now in its third decade of operation, parent company Aero-News Network, has the most aggressive and intensive editorial profile of any aviation news organization and has published nearly a half-million news and feature stories since its inception -- having pioneered the online 24/7 aviation new-media model that so many have emulated.
