Swedish Coast Guard Aircraft To Get Field Aviation Flight Deck Upgrade

Modifications Will Include FMS Upgrades And ADS-B Out Compliance

Field Aviation has been awarded a contract, through an open tender process, to upgrade the flight deck on the Swedish Coast Guard’s (Kustbevakningen) three Dash 8 aircraft. The upgrade includes installation of Field Aviation’s EFI-890R Flight Deck, Flight Management System (FMS) upgrades and other changes to make the aircraft ADS-B Out compliant.

The Field Aviation EFI-890R Flight Deck Modernization program is a state of the art replacement of the legacy Dash 8 OEM electromechanical and electronic flight and engine instrumentation systems with five Universal Avionics (UA) EFI-890R flat panel integrated smart displays. Four of these displays present the pilots with navigation and situational awareness, and the fifth (center unit) displays engine information. The system provides full redundancy by allowing information to be switched between the displays.

Field Aviation is also providing a turnkey kit solution to add ADS-B Out capability, including upgrades of the dual Universal Avionics FMSs to UNS-1Fw units. Paired with these upgrades are dual Rockwell Collins TDR-94D ADS-B transponders.

“The Swedish Coast Guard Dash 8 aircraft are an integral part of the Coast Guard’s daily maritime operations, providing very effective surveillance and emergency support from the air, prior to the arrival of surface vessels. At Field Aviation we could not be more pleased to be a part of this modification program which will position these aircraft to continue to make a difference in maritime safety, environmental protection and enforcement for many years to come,” stated Field Aviation’s vice president of business development Rob Baseggio.

With over 70 years of experience creating unique technical solutions, Field Aviation is recognized as an industry leader in the design, manufacture, installation, flight test, and certification of modifications for commercial and special mission aircraft. Also recognized for its capabilities in avionics and interior upgrades, Field Aviation offers flight deck modernization, customized interior reconfigurations and refurbishments, and cargo conversions.
