Utilized For Test Pilot Training, Cargo And Personnel Transport

Pilatus announced it has handed over a PC-12 to the German Armed Forces’ Technical and Airworthiness Center for Aircraft and Aeronautical Equipment (WTD 61). The versatile single-engine turboprop powered aircraft will be stationed at the Ingolstadt/Manching air base in Germany and will be used to train test pilots and to transport personnel and material.

The PC-12 will provide the German Armed Forces with a high-performance aircraft that will significantly strengthen its operational readiness, as well as being a cost-effective and flexible multi-role platform.

The PC-12 has a reputation as a proven and reliable aircraft for both civilian and military purposes. In this setting with the German Armed Forces it will support standardization training for test pilots and logistical transport operations.

Barbara Reinhold, Director of WTD 61, explained the importance of the new aircraft for the German Armed Forces, saying, “The PC-12 will help us to perform our training and transport tasks efficiently and safely.”

Ioannis Papachristofilou, Vice President of Government Aviation at Pilatus said, “We are convinced that the outstanding versatility, modern avionics and proven reliability of the PC-12 make it optimally suited to meet the requirements of the German Armed Forces. The acceptance of this PC-12 by the WTD 61 signals the beginning of a promising partnership between Pilatus and the German Armed Forces, and the inclusion of technical and logistical support will provide the foundation for long-term success.
