RollsRoyce Nets Contract Maintaining RAF Typhoon Engines

Five-Year £563M Deal Supports About 500 Direct Jobs

Rolls-Royce announced it has been awarded a five-year, £563 million contract from the Royal Air Force to provide maintenance and support for 130 EJ200 engines that power the RAF’s Eurofighter Typhoon fighter jets.

The contract, known as the Typhoon Engine Support Solution or TESS, will build resilience throughout the UK supply chain while supporting 200 direct jobs and 2,400 indirect jobs that the UK considers essential to maximizing its combat air expertise.

TESS will sustain the critical skills needed to enable the RAF to deliver air capabilities now and into the future, including the Global Combat Air Program.

John Healey, UK Defense Secretary, said, “Not only will this contract help to maintain our world-class jets, it also delivers on our Plan for Change by securing around 200 jobs in the UK and boosting the skills base our world-leading defense industry relies upon.

“Together with our upgrade program, this contract will ensure our Typhoon fleet remains the backbone of UK air defense for the next decade.”

Adam Riddle, President for Defense at Rolls-Royce said, “This contract builds on more than a century of Rolls-Royce partnership and trust with the Ministry of Defense. The Typhoon Engine Support Solution represents a continuation of our support of the EJ200 engine and we’re glad for the ongoing confidence in our team and capabilities.

“This investment enables us and our supply chain to ensure the RAF can execute their missions effectively, wherever and whenever they’re needed, in an increasingly complex global environment.”
