NBAA 2007: Sandel To Go All-LED

First Company To Feature LEDs In All Display Products

Retrofit company Sandel Avionics announced Tuesday at NBAA 2007 it is upgrading its entire line of current products with LED (light-emitting diode) backlights, making it the first company to feature the technology in all its display products.

Sandel's 4/5-ATI SA4550 and SN4500 electronic ADI and HSI replacement units are already LED-driven, and Sandel is now reengineering its 3-ATI systems, including the SN3500 EHSI, to equip them with the bright, high-definition, long-lived technology.

LED backlighting offers such operational benefits as increased sunlight visibility, screen resolution color fidelity, product life and dispatch reliability, along with a significant reduction in maintenance costs and aircraft downtime.

"Between our own research and the comments we've received from customers, it's clear that LED systems are the future in avionics displays, yielding such benefits as full-sunlight, 180-degree viewability; unmatched image quality; a service life greater than 10,000 hours; superior color reproduction for quicker situation recognition; and the virtual elimination of maintenance," noted Gerry Block, Sandel's CEO.

"And with our easy-to-install packaging concept allowing for drop-in replacement, operators of business and air transport aircraft can now update their panels to outperform anything else on the market, including large-format 'glass cockpits.'"

Sandel's LED products are on display in booth 953 at the 2007 NBAA Show.

Sandel Avionics provides compact integrated display systems for general aviation, business aviation, air transport and regional, and rotary-wing aircraft. The company sports such products as the turbine-class ST3400 TAWS, and a suite of 4/5-ATI, LED-backlit attitude and navigation displays.
