Nightingale Regional Air Ambulance Service Contracts With Metro Aviation

Aircraft Finisher Will Add Medical Gear To A New EC145

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, Norfolk, VA, has chosen Metro Aviation to perform the air medical completion for a recently purchased EC145 helicopter from American Eurocopter for Nightingale Regional Air Ambulance.  Metro will finish the aircraft in an air medical configuration with a single pilot IFR and a night vision goggle compatible cockpit and cabin area.  The aircraft will undergo the sophisticated installation and finishing process at the Metro headquarters in Shreveport, Louisiana.  Equipped for true multi-mission patient transport capabilities, the new EC145 will be outfitted by Metro with the latest state of the air safety and patient care systems.  The aircraft will be delivered in March 2011.

Metro Aviation Managing Director, Milton Geltz commented, "We appreciate confidence placed in us by Sentara Norfolk General Hospital and the staff at Nightingale Regional Air Ambulance and we're certainly proud to be partnered with such a prestigious hospital based program with a long and rich history of community service."

Since its inception in February 1982, Nightingale has been serving the communities of Southeastern Virginia and Northeastern North Carolina. Nightingale was the 38th air medical program established in the United States and has transported over 16,000 patients.
