Pilatus Boasts Strong Demand in GA and Bizjet Markets

Swiss Aircraft Proved Popular at Just Concluded NBAA 2021

During the 2021 NBAA-BACE, Pilatus reported strong interest and order activity on its PC-24 Super Versatile Jet and their newest iteration of their PC-12 turboprop. While other sections of the aviation industry have rebounded slower than others, due to a combination of lowered passenger demand, higher regulation in border transit, supply chain disruptions, and economic sluggishness, Pilatus feels quite healthy.

Pilatus Aircraft Ltd CEO Markus Bucher said, “Two years ago, we were unveiling the newly certified PC-12 NGX to an enthusiastic audience at this same location. Who could have predicted the events of the past 24 months? We are happy to be back here in the largest market for Pilatus aircraft, and are very fortunate that in this challenging environment sales of the PC-12 NGX and the PC-24 continue to exceed our original projections.“

Sales may also improve with news that both aircraft are now certified to operate using sustainable alternative jet fuel. He notes, “the best way to reduce emissions is to use less fuel. This is the fundamental philosophy behind the single-engine turboprop’s design, and part of Pilatus’ DNA. Operators of large jets can fly the majority of their typical trips in a PC-12 while consuming 75 percent less fuel.”

Their PC-24 has proven popular with operators, having more than 120 aircraft in operation. Unlike many business jets, the PC-24 includes a large cargo door, reconfigurable cabin, and an emphasis on operation from short, unimproved runways.

According to Bucher, customers are impressed. “We still hear reactions from people discovering the PC-24 for the first time that they did not realise how large, roomy and luxurious the passenger cabin is. It truly combines the cabin of a midsize jet with the economy of a light jet and the utility of a turboprop. As we bring the PC-24 to the attention of prospective customers outside the Pilatus family we are very encouraged that it will provide a long and productive future for its operators and Pilatus.“

The PC-12 NGX has continued its strong sales history, including the newest version of the long-running, dependable Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6E-67XP, the NGX adds greater performance, lower cabin noise, reduced operating costs, higher cruise, and an enhanced cabin interior.

Operators can now take part in P&W’s Eagle Service Plan, a pay-per-hour engine maintenance program that could minimize costs and insure their investment against FOD damage, or wear and tear found during its repair.
