ICAS: Colorado Flyover Raises $860K For COVID Relief

International Council of AirShows Community Provides Support For Those in Need

There are members of the flying community that seem to go well above and beyond the call of duty when it comes to showing that aviation cares... and cares a lot, for the world around us.

The International Council of AirShows shared this tidbit...

On Thursday, May 14th, multiple ICAS members joined together to participate in an aerial parade of over 30 aircraft around the Denver metro area in an effort to raise funds to support COVID relief. With the help of more than 1,000 contributions from individuals and organizations and a $500,000 challenge match by Lockheed Martin, the group raised more than $860,000 for the Colorado COVID Relief fund. Administered by the Mile High United Way, the fund was organized to ensure community needs due to the COVID-19 pandemic, including grants to eligible organizations across Colorado.

The squadron of aircraft, coordinated in part by ICAS member Scott McMillan, departed Rocky Mountain Metro Airport and weaved around the Denver metro area, flying over multiple health facilities in a show of support and solidarity. The flyover also aimed to raise awareness of the fundraiser across numerous media outreach programs. Other members associated with the flyover were the Rocky Mountain Renegades, Bob Freeman of Freeman Air Shows, and local Commemorative Air Force assets. Bruce Erley from Creative Strategies Group coordinated outreach support, and air show videographer Mark Magin documented the event, giving local media access to broadcast-quality footage that could be used to help promote the fundraiser.
