Annual Daher Owner Convention Draws Record Attendance

$260,000 Raised for Aviation Scholarships

The record number of attendees by which 2023’s iteration of the annual convention of the TBM Owners and Pilots Association (TBMOPA) was graced evinced, compellingly, the commitment to safety and best-practices characteristic of the organization’s members.

Held against the pristine autumnal backdrop of Colorado Springs, Colorado, the 2023 event was co-sponsored by Daher and attended by Daher Aircraft Division senior vice-president Nicolas Chabbert and Daher vice-president of customer support Raphael Maitre.

Mr. Chabbert set forth: “The TBMOPA’s annual convention is one of the priority gatherings for Daher each year, providing a unique opportunity to bring together customers, suppliers, and our Network of authorized service centers. TBMOPA has always put the emphasis on flight safety, and I want to particularly recognize the association’s emphasis on this important topic during the past 12-months through an even more comprehensive program under the leadership of Chairman Andrew Cragg.”

All told, a total of 323 Daher owners, pilots, and enthusiasts attended the four-day event hosted by Colorado Springs’ Broadmoor Hotel. The convention featured a series of in-depth sessions addressing flight operations and best practices. Attendees also enjoyed expert briefings, refresher courses, and the lively sharing of flying yarns.

Nearly ninety aircraft representing Daher’s complete product line—from the cornerstone TBM-700 to the TBM-850, TBM-900, TBM-910, TBM-930, TBM-940, and the flagship TBM-960—converged upon Colorado Springs Municipal Airport (COS), gathering after the fashion of a flock of jet-fuel-ravenous Rocs on the ramp of TBM authorized support center Cutter Aviation.

Outgoing TBMOPA chairman Andrew Cragg remarked: “With the steadfast support of Daher as the TBM manufacturer—along with the vital contributions of many volunteers—TBMOPA has evolved a comprehensive safety program that can be of significant benefit to members in maintaining their aircraft and aviator skills at the highest level, while also serving as a model for other general aviation owner/operator associations.”

A live auction of donated TBM equipment, systems, accessories and travel experiences conducted during the annual convention raised a record $260,000. The monies will benefit the TBMOPA Foundation, a charitable organization providing scholarships administered by the Able Flight nonprofit aviation organization. Subject scholarships facilitate flight training and aviation career training for aspiring pilots contending with physical disabilities—including wounded or disabled military veterans.
