NASA Honors NTS With Prestigious Space Flight Awareness Award

Recognized For Work On SLS Expedite Program

National Technical Systems, a company providing qualification testing, inspection, and certification solutions in North America, received NASA’s prestigious Space Flight Awareness Award. Part of the NASA Awards and Recognition Program, it was presented to NTS in Washington, D.C. on October 23.

The award comes on the heels of the company’s vital work on NASA’s Space Launch System Expedite program, which NTS developed and executed in collaboration with Boeing. Nominated by industry partners Boeing and Lockheed Martin, NTS was commended for its unwavering attention to technical excellence and project management, while providing accelerated test services for Orion, SLS, and EGS in support of NASA's Artemis Program.

“We are honored to receive the prestigious Space Flight Awareness award from NASA,” said Rich Adams, CEO of NTS. “We have worked with NASA and our industry partners for decades to support America’s space program—and this award is a testament to the expertise and hard work of our extremely talented and dedicated workforce.” Adams continued.

Space Flight Awareness nominees must meet strict criteria. Suppliers must generate high-quality products, demonstrate excellent technical knowledge, and adhere to schedules based on a documented system that shows valid data in the areas of quality, schedule, and cost.

In nominating NTS for the award, industry partners described NTS as “an unsung hero” in the space sector, championing the company’s excellence, quality and dedication to meticulous qualification and testing procedures:

“The qualification and testing of hardware for human-rated space flight systems is unique and extensive; and is a critical step in delivering to NASA the safest and most reliable systems for human space exploration. At Lockheed Martin, NTS is identified as one of only a select few approved vendors to test the flight hardware our suppliers are making for the Orion program.”

NTS joins a distinguished list of past NASA Space Flight Awareness winners, which includes Boeing, Lockheed Martin, United Launch Alliance, Aerojet Rocketdyne, Honeywell, and United Technologies.
