Two Former TSA Workers Sentenced For Grand Larceny

Passenger Had $40K Stolen From Bag At JFK International

Even as the TSA is crowing over the story of an honest screener at Newark Liberty who turned in $5,000 in cash discovered on the floor in Terminal C, two former TSOs at JFK International in New York have been sentenced to six months in jail and five years probation after admitting they stole $40,000 in cash from a passenger's bag.

The Daily Mail reports the Queens District Attorney's Office says 44-year-old Coumar Persad of Queens and 31-year-old Davon Webb of the Bronx pleaded guilty to grand larceny, obstructing governmental administration and official misconduct.

According to prosecutors, Persad noticed the money while x-raying the bag of one passenger, and alerted Webb by phone. Webb then marked the bag with tape, Persad opened it in another handling area and took the money, and the two met in a rest room to divide the money and hide it in their clothing.

Police said nearly all the money was found in the homes of the suspects.
