Bombardier 415 Aircraft Will Join Forest Firefighting Fleet

Bombardier has delivered two Bombardier 415 amphibious aircraft to the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador. The order for the aircraft was announced in March 2014 and the first aircraft was delivered in May 2014. The second aircraft, which was unveiled today in St. John’s, Newfoundland, was delivered in September 2015.

As previously announced by Bombardier, and based on list price, the contract for the two aircraft is valued at approximately $73.7 million.

The aircraft has been central to our government’s strategic priority to increase capacity to fight forest fires in our province,” said the Honourable David Brazil, Minister of Transportation and Works, Government of Newfoundland and Labrador. “We look forward to continuing our relationship with Bombardier.”

More than 160 Bombardier 415 aircraft and its predecessors, the CL-215 and CL-215T aircraft, are in service worldwide. Canada is home to nearly 60 of these aircraft – one of the largest national fleets of its kind in the world.
